U.S. Troops Trade Gunfire With Pro-Regime Forces in Syria

BRUSSELS—U.S. and allied armed forces forces exchanged gunfire Wednesday with pro-Syria troops close to the northern Syrian city of Qamishli, armed forces officials reported, in a rare encounter amongst American and regime forces.

The U.S.-led coalition in Syria was conducting a patrol when it encountered a checkpoint occupied by the pro-Syrian regime forces, reported Col. Myles Caggins III, a armed forces spokesman.
