Taiwan Seeks to Start Free-Trade Talks With U.S.

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen stated she wishes to get started talks on a free-trade pact with the U.S., portion of a broad exertion to deepen her island democracy’s partnership with Washington and resist tension from Beijing.

In an online speech aired Wednesday, Ms. Tsai stated starting up trade negotiations are among the her next-expression priorities in strengthening relations with the U.S., a major trading spouse and key arms provider for Taiwan.
